The Launch of Greenhouse Lab: Nigeria’s first female-focused tech accelerator
This past Tuesday, 14 August, the Greenhouse Capital team organised the Launch of the GreenHouse Labs.
Greenhouse Lab, founded by Nichole Yembra and co-founded by Tosin Durotoye, is a three-month accelerator focused solely on early-stage, women-led technology start-ups in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as African-run startups domiciled in the US or UK with products that are scalable in African markets. GreenHouse Lab is also the only accelerator program in all of Africa to be “Powered by Google”.
The Lab features an intensive curriculum delivered in-person and virtually, and leverages existing entrepreneurship education frameworks focused on a variety of key topics including, but not limited to, product development, market segmentation, human capital, marketing, and fundraising.
Other channels of engagement include weekly lunch presentations, guest lectures, and office hours with the Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs).
During the Launch, the female representatives of all the nine (9) startups presented their startups to the audience which included the mentors of the Program and friends.
All the mentors are businessmen and women who are business-savvy and have experience working across the different sectors of the economy, such as Tara Fela-Durotoye of House of Tara, Odun of Piggybank, Afua Osei of She Leads Africa, and other notable entrepreneurs.
Afterward, Nichole gave a brief talk and the event concluded with the vote of thanks by Tosin Durotoye.
We wish all the participants in the accelerator all the best.
